The second operational carrier capable F-35C squadron, and the Marine’s first F-35C squadron, the Black Knights of VMFA-314 traded their Legacy Hornet’s for Lightning II’s in 2020… declaring IOC in December. The first jet they received was BuNo169601.
Marked as CV 401, she is shown in “Beast Mode,” with a pair of AM-9X IR missiles and two pairs of GBU-12 500 lb. laser guided bombs under her wings and a pair of AIM-120C active radar missiles and pair of GBU-31 2000 lb JDAM bombs in her internal weapons bay.
