.Arizona’s 195th FS Warhawks have a diverse history starting in the Second World War flying P-47 Thunderbolts and included which has them flying Mustangs and Sabres before C-97 tankers and C-130 airlifters before returning to fast jets with the A-7 and F-16. They have served with the active-duty Army Air Corps and USAF as well as the California Air National Guard in addition to the current Arizona ANG. Today they fly updated C+ versions of the F-16 with improved engines and avionics.
87-0333 is the squadron flagship with unique tail art featuring a pair of Warhawks talons in addition to a subdued version of the units standard tail flash based on the AZ state flag. She is equipped for a Surface Attack sorties with two pairs of GBU-12 LGB’s “slant mounted” on TER-9/A’s and a Targeting Pod on chin station 5B. For self-escort, she carries a pair AIM-120C’s and AIM-9X missiles in addition to 370 Gallon external wing takes for the fuel to get to the target and home.
